Celebrating Independence ?

Yes, India got its independent governance in 1947, but is it enough to celebrate? Independence is not an event, it’s an on-going process for sustenance and nation-building. I wonder if any country in the world is independent! A war happening at the other side of the globe has the power to affect a country thousands of miles away.

The process to be Independent starts from being “Interdependent” first. No economy can be self-reliant or independent until there is a strong sense of Interdependence. The synergy of interdependence has  the power to make any country bigger and greater.

It all starts at the very human level, no economy and industry can flourish without an organized and well trusted civic arrangement. It is not just the responsibility of governments to provide this structure but indeed the greater responsibility is with us to respect it. In these years of chaos and uncertainty we have been hearing people talking about Fundamental rights, but no one is indeed looking into the Fundamental duties that as citizens we need to comply with.

It’s disheartening to see that anti-national spirit is being labelled as freedom of speech. Our own people demeaning the country in the external world. Criticism is healthy for a democracy but if it’s constructive with solutions. It should be debating, not argumentative.

If the government is making an effort to create an environment for future sustenance and growth, it may make some mistakes on the road of development. We will have to choose and see that we are appreciative of what has gone well for us and not play victims on only picking what didn’t go well. Can’t we be tolerant of the fact that no government will ever want to fail a federal structure and civic structure.

Indeed It is not even about being tolerant, it’s about accepting & being the change. The harmony among us with support to what’s right and voicing out the wrong, without losing the civilized behavior will create the ideal space for Trust and Interdependence.

Let’s stand behind the idea of a Nation. We may have our differences with governments and policies but let’s not demean the country that has given us a space much better than many countries out there. You may have settled in any part of the globe but remember that India will always belong to you.

Sending Love and Joy
